About
About Earth School Hawaii
Welcome to Earth School Hawaii, where education meets the great outdoors and young minds are inspired to think beyond the classroom. As one of the top Kauai learning programs, we believe that learning should be an adventure, empowering students with knowledge, confidence, and a deep connection to the natural world.
At Earth School Hawaii, we take a unique approach by combining focused academic sessions with immersive, hands-on learning experiences in Hawaii’s vibrant ecosystems. Our innovative two-hour core model provides intensive, engaging lessons in essential subjects each morning. This condensed format gives our students the solid academic foundation they need while freeing up the rest of the day for experiential, project-based learning outdoors.
“Our Unique Approach”
The 2-Hour Core Model –We maximize the first two hours of each school day with focused, engaging academic instruction. Our students dive into core subjects with the most innovative and effective teaching methods, allowing them to build strong foundations while minimizing burnout.
Beyond the Classroom
After their academic sessions, students transition into our Kauai educational programs, Real-World Learning & Environmental Program, where the real magic happens. Our curriculum takes them outside, whether it’s nature excursion, coral reef planting with Kuleana Coral, hands-on sustainable projects, or immersive environmental studies. We foster a deep connection to the land, oceans, and ecosystems of Hawaii, encouraging students to solve real-world problems.
Explore the Benefits of a Different Kind of Education
Engaged Learning: Students develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in both academic and environmental settings.
Personal Growth: Small class sizes allow for individualized attention, fostering personal development, confidence, and independence.
Hands-on Projects: From planting native species to beach cleanups, students engage in real-world projects that make a lasting impact.
Project-based learning at Earth School Hawaii offers students a dynamic and immersive experience. Instead of traditional, teacher-led instruction, students engage in long-term, hands-on projects that encourage exploration and problem-solving. This method allows children to take ownership of their learning as they investigate topics that are meaningful to them and relevant to their environment.
Our environmental focus means that these projects often revolve around real-world issues. Children learn about local ecosystems, sustainability, and environmental stewardship through activities such as planting gardens, studying wildlife, and addressing challenges like waste reduction and conservation. By working on these tangible projects, students develop a deeper connection to nature and understand how their actions can positively impact the planet.

Three Waves Of Learning
We divide our school day into “three waves” In order to ensure that students are learning experientially and developing the skills and tools needed to thrive in the world as independent learners and impact innovators.
- Proficiency Wave: daily skills development in math and literacy
- Thematic Wave: holistic learning approached through longer interdisciplinary explorations.
- Creative Expression Wave: deep dive into creative arts, wellness practices, and entrepreneurship
